THE HISTORY

McPrice produced his first vintage in 2002 with half a ton of grapes in a small cooperative in Paso Robles from which he developed a portfolio of wines with broad appeal. In 2014 McPrice moved the winery to the current site nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Adelaida District. Over the years, McPrice Myers wines continue to garner attention from wine lovers and critics alike.

Venus Lai signed up for the wine club after being wowed by the depth and sophistication of the McPrice Myers wines starting a journey that two years later would lead to a partnership to purchase the property – 84 acres of Adelaida District land that they named Belle Terre, which was home to the winery, 20 acres of vineyards, and a house sitting atop the hill.

THE TERROIR

Over the last two decades, McPrice Myers has been crafting wines of depth and balance that showcase the multiple terroirs and climates of the Central Coast – from Santa Barbara to Paso Robles.

In general, the Paso Robles growing region has the greatest diurnal temperature swing (40-50 degrees during the growing season) in California. This temperature swing is caused by the maritime influence of the Pacific Ocean provides for cool nights, even ripening, and a very long growing season.

The McPrice Myers vineyards grow on slopes that range in incline from 25 to 50 degrees with an elevation of 1,500 to 2,000 feet. The well-drained soils are a combination of the Santa Lucia-Lopez and Linne-Calodo series, as well as Rincon and Nacimiento silty clay loam.

The winery grows a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Petit Verdot, Grenache, Viognier, and Grenache Blanc.

McPrice Myers Bull by the Horns

76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec, 6% Merlot, 6% Petite Sirah, and 2% Petite Verdot. McPrice Myers Bull by the Horns has notes of sugar dusted black currant and cherry, birch beer, espresso, chocolate mint, black licorice, maple candy. Classic, authentic Cabernet structure, true to varietal, fine tannins that stretch to a long, refined, and graceful finish.

McPrice Myers High on the Hog

48% Grenache 26% Petite Sirah 7% Syrah 7% Zinfandel 5% Mourvedre 5% Malbec and 2% Lagrein. McPrice Myers High on the Hog has notes of macerated cherries, strawberry reduction, sweet spice, spring flowers, plum tart, melted licorice, and fresh herbs. The palate has an exuberant, sweet approach, with a long, mineral-laced finish.

McPrice Myers Pound for Pound

84% Zinfandel 14% Petite Sirah and 2% Syrah. McPrice Myers Pound for Pound has notes of hibiscus flower, dragonfruit, mulberry, blood orange, cinnamon stick, and sandalwood. Incredible freshness, palate leads with juicy, fresh fruits. Finish is lively. Energetic. Expressive.

McPrice Myers Right Hand Man

88% Syrah, 8% Petite Sirah, and 4% Viognier. McPrice Myers Right Hand Man has notes of plum preserves, licorice, leather, brownie batter. On the palate the wine shows flavors of Cuban coffee, violet, Montmorency cherries. Lush, supple tannins and a long bright finish.

Beautiful Earth Product Line

Beautiful Earth Cabernet Sauvignon

92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petite Verdot, and 4% Syrah.

Beautiful Earth Red

48% Syrah, 16% Grenache, 14% Mourvedre, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 4% Petite Sirah, and 2% Zinfandel. McPrice Myers Beautiful Earth Red has notes of marionberry, dark leather, smoked plums, blueberry/peach cobbler, acacia flower, lavender creme brûlée, red-eye gravy, violet, ripe olive, hoisin, currant paste, and melted licorice. Broad, weighty, and plush on the palate with a densely packed finish.

Beautiful Earth White

50% Clairette Blanche and 50% Grenache Blanc. McPrice Myers Beautiful Earth White has notes of apple butter, macadamia nut, white flowers, poached pear, caviar lime, yellow plum, loquat, lemongrass, and wet stone. The palate is clean, pure, energetic, and mid-palate focused, with a suave, mouthwatering finish.
