Best Wines To Pour At Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving is the Super Bowl of cooking and entertaining. And while a lot of the focus is on the perfect roast turkey and all the trimmings, an extended family get together calls for wine. Lots and lots of wine.
While at some point during dinner with the family one might be reaching for everything and anything available, these are some great wines to pour during Thanksgiving dinner. Here’s some of the best options for a hearty and festive holiday dinner.
Toscolo Chianti DOCG
A bold Italian wine made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, the wine is a bright red color and rich and flavorful. While this one will work as a perfect all-around dinner wine, it’s also great to pair with the cheese or pasta course, or dessert.
Monte Antico Toscana IGT
Another fabulous Italian wine, this one is 85% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is a dark ruby color, with flavors of black cherries, licorice and plums. It’s a great choice for those who want a medium to full-bodied palate – and it has a bit of a spicy feel to it that will hold up against hearty meat and pasta dishes.
Primitivo di Manduria “Il Matané” DOC
This Italian wine is 100% Primitivo and tastes of ripe cherries and plums, with notes of chocolate and vanilla. This wine has a long, velvety finish which will work great with Thanksgiving dinner menus that include lamb and hard cheeses.
