Annette Voss of Voss Estate in Martinborough, New Zealand recently finished the 2009 Harvest and here are some of her comments: “Vintage was great - good volumes of lovely, ripe fruit. We needed to do some fruit thinning, which is quite a position of luxury to be in for us! We had some real heat spikes over summer too, late 30's to early 40's. Pretty much a drought (which broke alarmingly a month before vintage, but that was it). Harvest weather was the most settled we can recall; warm, calm days but several frosty nights! At least we didn't have to worry about the acids dropping out. Many vineyards commented on good flavors well before |

sugars were up (ie. good physiological ripeness). It was a really compressed vintage for us - most of the action in the week or so around Easter. |

“Yet another stunning wine from one of New Zealand’s finest Pinot Noir producers. A delightful and complex nose exhibiting dark cherry, plum, thyme and floral characters. The palate is concentrated and succulent showing satin smooth texture, superb mid palate weight and gently firm tannins. |

It’s beautifully balanced and structured with a promise to age magnificently. At its best: now to 2013. 13.5% Diam cork.” This stunning Pinot from the other side of the world also received 5 stars in addition to the 94 Point score from Wine Orbit.
